Introducing Bunny Foo - Our Newest Author

Several years ago, I was asked by a close friend if I kayaked. When I said yes, little did I know what I had let myself in for! Before the day was out, I was introduced to a new friend and we were entered in the forthcoming Alafia River Race. Perhaps, I should mention we are in Florida and this is an 11 mile kayak race, yes ELEVEN, you read correctly!!

So training began! Now neither of us owned a kayak, so we rented. We had fun practicing together. There were incidents along the rivers on which we practiced with trees, bracken, shallow waters, turtles and gators! Gators you ask? Well, we ended up slightly cornered and I went to push off on what I thought was a tree stump when I suddenly saw the eyes twitch!!

Anyway to cut a long story short a great friendship developed. Since (at this time) her husband was posted to Kuwait, and after listening to all the adventures I've had, she decided to go and have one of her own. This started with a move to Key West.  Having visited her there and seen the Butterfly Conservatory, the Audubon House, and the Secret Gardens myself, I asked my friend if she would like to join us now that we have started Gardeners Reach and blog about these places and I would share my photographs with you.

She joins us now as Bunny Foo.

Her name Bunny Foo (we call her Foo) came about when she and my husband were trying to get me to believe there was such a poem as Little Bunny Foo Foo.  I hope you enjoy her posts.

Oh! we have done several races since the first one even winning gold medals for first place in the Caledesi Tandem Kayak Race around Honeymoon Island. Oh! You want to know the time in our first race, it was a respectable 2.32 hours and remember it was 11 miles in a rented kayak in the Florida heat!!
