My Name is: Darry D which is not a nickname; it’s my gift from my mother.
My Focus is: My garden focus is upon butterflies and the gardening which attract them is my passion. The most graceful of God’s creatures, the butterfly remains free because its life depends upon it. It has a short life span during which it must grow, explore, learn and create the next generation. The flowers that attract them are colorful, drought-tolerant and a reward in themselves. MY second passion is offering leadership and guidance to the Volunteer Master Gardeners who are carrying on a program that is so fundamental to the future of this county, this state and our nation. If we do not reinvest in our gardens, instead of our lawns, we will end up as brown and dead as St. Augustinegrass in a drought.
My Interests are: Helping others help themselves — in the gardens and beyond. I believe that each of us is given opportunities to aid others and ourselves through education; new experiences; and sharing. Life, like a garden, should be more about collaboration rather than competition.
